Join me at Sports and Entertainment Roundtable: A Discussion of the Industry and its Nuances", 7/3 in New Orleans

I will be speaking about book writing and publishing at the continuing legal education program, Sports and Entertainment Legal Roundtable: A Discussion of the Industry and Its Nuances, July 3rd from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Bar Center, St. Charles Street, New Orleans, LA, sponsored by the National Bar Association, Region V, for all of those in town for the Essence Music Festival.

The Panelist will include Will Packer, Producer of "Stomp the Yard" and "Obsessed"; Adolph Birch of the National Football League, V.P. of Law and Labor Policy; Michell Davis, Partner of Register Lett, Atlanta, GA, and me in my role as President & CEO of The Elevator Group, an independent publishing company.

2006 Woman of Distinction Award

    In January 2006, I received the Woman of Distinction Award from the Barristers' Association of Philadelphia, PA, an affiliate of the National Bar Association, for for “exemplary service to the community through the practice of law” and “impressive personal accomplishments as an African American attorney.” Some photos from that wonderful event are included in this album.

Bryn Mawr Trust Woman's History Month Event

  • The Signing Begins
    On March 17, 2006, I was the honored guest and speaker at the Bryn Mawr Trust Company's Women's History Month Event at the Merion Cricket Club in Haverford, Pa. This was a magical evening for me, being honored and featured in this way and being surrounded by so many family and friends, both old and new. I spoke about the history of women on the Main Line using my own life story, the stories of women I grew up with, and the stories of the Main Line women that I include in my novel, Chasing the 400. Paul Loftland, of Paul Loftland Photography in Philadelphia, took some beautiful photos that evening. I an sharing some of them in this photo album.

    Flyers for the "A Culture Redefined: The African American Authors on Tour" are in this album. The first event is at the African American Museum, 701 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA, on Thursday, 6 - 8 p.m. It is free and open to the public. The tour continues on Saturday, February 17 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at Taylor's Olde Mill, 200 W. Marshall St., Norristown, PA. The $20 per person charge at Taylor's includes hors' d'oeuvres, wine and valet parking.

My first book store event

  • What a Poster!
    The wonderful folks at Barnes and Noble in Bryn Mawr, PA, took a chance and hosted me at a Meet the Author event in February 2006. Their support was so important and critical because not every book store will do this for a first-time, self-published author. We had a very successful event in terms of attendance and sales. Special thanks to Kathy Siscliano, Community Relations Manager, and Brenda Collins, Sales Associate for making this possible. Here's hoping that reports of this event will encourage other self-published authors and bookstores to take chances!
